This 27-acre ornamental public park is situated in the centre of Nuwara Eliya. It was established by planting an Oak tree by a German Princes who was visiting Nuwara Eliya. The park was later named after Queen Victoria in 1897 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of her visit to Sri Lanka.
Very rare local and migrant bird species are seen here, including the Indian Blue Robin and Kashmir Fly Catcher. The whole park is covered with flowers of every color in March and April, attracting tourists by their thousands.
The Oak tree planted in 1898 and the Tree of Peace planted by the wife of the then Deputy Governor of Nuwara Eliya, Lady Wederbern to mark World Peace at the end of the First World War are two significant features in this garden.
The Victoria Park is a serene location to enjoy peaceful environs as well as ideal for the enjoyment of children.
