There are two routes leading to this river: Travel 12 kms from Pallegama via Matale, Naula, Elahera towards Ilukkumbura.


Or travel via Matale – Rattota road to the far end of the Ilukkumbura village Road to reach this river, about 22 kms away from Rattota.


The rocky plain above the bridge on Thelgamu Oya is an idyllic setting where tourists can rest. The clear waters of this stream never turn muddy even in the high rainy season, thanks to the natural ecosystem. Seen by the riverside is a Circuit Bungalow maintained by the Department of Forest Conservation. This stream provides clean water for daily needs of the local folk, as well as to irrigate their paddy fields.
