The A9 Route from Kandy to Jaffna cuts through the southern and the northern boundaries of the Matale Divisional Secretariat. Thousands of locals as well as foreign tourists visit this area each year.


This temple was built in the 1800s. The ‘Apaya’ (hell), created in traditional sculpture style, is the most outstanding attraction here. The ancient Buddha Shrine is decorated with selected poignant stories from the life of the Buddha.
