This can be reached on the Matale Dambulla A 9 road passing the Arangala Pilihudugolla upper and lower Grama Niladhari divisions, 3.5 kms away.  This can also be accessed through Sapugaskanda Road or either Haweralugahalanda road and is a lake constructed under the Mahaweli project where a power station is also built.  


This also consists of the Bowatenna reservoir and power station built under the Mahaweli Project which is the 10th power station through which electricity is being generated and transmitted.  This borders Lihiniyapitiya division from the right side and Meegolla 17th Grama Niladhari division from the west side and the Weralugahakanda forest reserve can be identified as the main water supplier of the Bowatenna reservoir.  Birds also of Sri Lankan heritage including animals can be seen in this forest.


It is stated the supply of electricity at this station exceeds mega-watts 150hrs.  The water capacity is 4537 ft acre and a surface extent of 14999 ft acre.  The water capacity in sq meters would be 56.17 million. (According to source statistics - Matale 2008)
